When you've played against a gale force wind
And it changes at half time
And you feel your strength deserting you
And an emptiness inside
When there's people that will harm you
Though you've done to them no wrong
It time to sing , it's time to sing , to sing a powerful song

Pentecost 22 All Saints Day

Ruth had the straightforward part:
to empty out her past,
turn from her own gods,
give herself without a thought,
fall into the arms of that safe woman,
and ask to be held for ever.
But Naomi, burnt out and battered by God,
with no resources but her brokenness,
took into her body that deep well of need,
touched her with tenderness,
led her into a strange land,
and asked her to let go.
